The AMInstitute Membership Categorisation System
The AM Institute membership categories are defined under Rule 8 of the AM Institute Constitution, and includes the membership grades of:
· Fellow
· Associate Fellow
· Member
· Associate, and
· Retired
An explanation for the rules determining eligibility for each category is shown below:

Fellow
|
A minimum of 15 years experience as a director or manager of a mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation; or
a minimum of 10 years experience as a director or manager of a mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation & a minimum of 1 year as a mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation chief executive (or equivalent) or mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation chairman; or
a minimum of 5 years experience as director or manager of a mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation & a minimum of 3 years as a mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation chief executive (or equivalent) or mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation chairman; or
a minimum of 5 years experience as a director or manager of a mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation & successful completion of the Diploma of Financial Services FNS07 (Credit Union / Building Society Directorship) or recognised degree/ postgraduate diploma from an accredited educational institution.

5 years experience as a director or manager of a mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation & a minimum of 1 year as a mutual ADI or other mutual Organisation chairman or chief executive (or equivalent)

Member

A director of a mutual or a person employed by a mutual in either a managerial, emerging leader or staff position; or
A director or trustee, or a person employed by a body providing either industry association services or commercial services to a mutual, or an organisation that has a close affinity to a mutual.

MAMI

Associate

An alternate or associate director of a mutual; or
A person employed by a mutual in a staff position, or
A director or trustee, or a person employed by a body providing either industry association services or commercial services to a mutual, or an organisation that has a close affinity to a mutual; or
A member of a mutual who is intending to nominate for a position as a director of a mutual and so wishes to gain access to the Institute’s training, education and professional development program
